Motorcycle Half Helmet Prep Video covers the preparation of a motorcycle half helmet before you paint, airbrushing it. The paint you apply to any hard surface be it metal, fiberglass, plastic will only be as good as what’s underneath it, the surface you are spraying it on. No matter weather it’s solvent based or waterbase, water born paint the surface needs to be prepped correctly and CLEAN or you are headed for trouble. This will really show if you will be masking over the paint as in doing graphic’s or artwork, not taking the time to correctly prep the surface will lead to paint pulling up with any masking you use.
What I used in this airbrush video: red Scotch brite pad, Comet house hold cleaner, 800 grit wet/dry sand paper, 1/8 th inch fine line tape, 3M masking tape, helmet stand. Doing this correctly will save you loads of frustration and quite possible your artwork. The number one reason paint lifts when you mask over it is this prep was not done correctly so take the time to get it right.
After following all the steps in this airbrush video please refer to the tech sheet of the paint product you are using as to adding your airbrush art work.
Airbrushing murals on the Monster Truck Bad News Travels Fast truck. I really didn’t set out to make a video of this as I was really pushed for time to get this done. I put some clips I shot during the painting process and this video is the result.
